Watford Philharmonic at Watford Colosseum – Beethoven and Dvořák – 28th April 2018 at 7.30pm
Two works make up the programme for our Spring concert: Dvořák’s Mass in D Major and Beethoven’s Symphony Number 9. The 9th Symphony, considered to be one of Beethoven’s greatest works, will be familiar to many of our audience and the choir will be very much looking forward to singing the choral finale! Dvořák’s Mass in D Major will be known to fewer of our audience and performers. It was commissioned by a friend of Dvořák for the consecration of his new chapel in 1887 and is described as reflecting the composer’s simple faith and joy of life.
Our soloists for this concert are:
Emily Rowley-Jones, Soprano
Deborah Miles-Johnson, Mezzo Soprano
Nick Allen, Tenor
Božidar Smiljanić, Bass-Baritone
