Our Autumn 2016 concert will be rather special and will feature the Western Front Violin. To remember the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme we will present a programme of appropriately themed and well loved music including a hauntingly beautiful solo piece played on the the Western Front Violin which comes back to Watford on loan from the Imperial War Museum.

Our Spring concert will feature Handel’s Alexander’s Feast. This lesser known work is full of drama and brilliantly written choruses. It describes a banquet held by Alexander the Great and his mistress Thais during which the musician Timotheus sings and plays his lyre arousing various moods in Alexander. Although it was traditional in Handel’s day to incorporate three additional concertos during the work, we will incorporate just one – his Harp Concerto Opus 4 No. 6.
The choir and orchestra of Watford Philharmonic Society were once again at Watford Colosseum for their Christmas 2015 concert with well known carols and festive songs for choir and audience. As is traditional at this popular family event we welcomed a children’s choir, the Senior Choir from Charlotte House Prep School, Rickmansworth, to sing with us.
