New Members are Welcome
Are you new to choral music? Would like to join an orchestra? Perhaps you have just moved into the area, or might be searching for a different musical group to rehearse and perform with? Come along and give us a try! Visit our members area to see what we are doing.
New choir members are always welcome, especially tenors and basses. We hold an open rehearsal at the beginning of every season, although you may join the Society at any time during the year. Information for new members for the 2016-2017 season can be found here.
Choir rehearsals are usually on Mondays 7:30 – 9:30 pm, Main Hall at Watford Grammar School for Girls. However, times and locations sometimes change.

Would you like to join an orchestra? We have vacancies for string players in all sections and for French horns, but we’d be happy to hear from you whatever your instrument. We generally ask for a Grade VIII or equivalent standard.
Orchestra rehearsals are on some Wednesdays 7:30 – 9:30pm in the Main Hall at Watford Grammar School for Girls although dates and times can vary.

Choir – Subscription 2016/17 Season
The annual membership subscription is £183. This covers the costs of the weekly rehearsals, hiring of the sheet music for each concert, the cost of putting on the concerts and the administration of the charity.
There is an early payment discount of £6 off the payment for the academic year if your membership subscription is paid by 31 August 2016.
Members aged 30 years or under pay £96.
Payments can be made by three instalments of £61 each by cheques dated on or before 31 August 2016, 30th November 2016 and 28th February 2017 (the early payment discount does not apply to instalments).
As well as our rehearsals and concerts, we offer a number of social activities and opportunities for extending your music making with other choirs and orchestras both locally and nationally.
We regularly sing to raise money for various charities, especially at Christmas time, and from time to time we have arranged overseas tours – most recently an exchange visit with members of Carlow Choral Society in Ireland.
Occasionally members of the choir are invited to perform at private functions where donations are made to the Watford Philharmonic Society.
