French horn player David Pyatt was only fourteen when he won the prestigious BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 1988 – at the time, the youngest competitor to take the title. Then a pupil at Watford Boys’ Grammar School, David went on to read History at Selwyn College Cambridge before forging an international career as a musician first with the London Symphony Orchestra, subsequently with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and currently as Principal Horn with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Widely recognised as a soloist and studio player with many acclaimed performances and recordings to his name, including the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises, David also teaches upcoming musicians at the Royal Academy as Adolph Borsdorf Professor of Horn.
