Please Read this Message from Pam Allanson our new Chair (18th March 2021)

As we race towards the last rehearsal of this term and the Easter break it is wonderful to appreciate the first signs of Spring and the gradual lightening of the restrictions that have encroached so much on our lives. With every day and every vaccination we are getting closer to some form of normality!

Our Monday Zooms when Michael entertains and educates us have been a real boost during these months and we thank you Michael for everything you have done to hold us all together. These are the links to purchase the music Michael intends to work on after Easter – it will be great fun and very suitable for the summertime.

Claude-Michel Schönberg: Medley From Les Miserables (SATB/Piano) (£3.50)

Mamma Mia (Choral highlights) by ABBA (£3.25)

I wanted to let you know some of the plans the Committee is putting into place for the rest of this year. Obviously EVERYTHING is subject to current and any further Government restrictions that may occur, but please put these dates in your diaries.

Saturday 10th July 2021 – Come back and Sing!

This will be a chance to get together to sing a variety of well known musical ‘lollypops’ both from the traditional choral and modern musical repertoire. This is purely for fun and to get our rusty voices moving again! More details to follow.

Monday 6th September 2021 7.30pm WPS rehearsals begin at Watford Girls hurrah!

Saturday 23rd October – A Requiem for 2020

This will be our return to the concert hall after so long and we will be performing Mozart’s wonderful Requiem to acknowledge all that has been lost during this dreadful time. If restrictions permit, we intend to add his Jupiter Symphony to the programme too. This will be a truly memorable evening for us all.

Saturday 11th December 2021 – It’s Christmas!

We will celebrate this one in style. Our usual mix of well known carols and festive music with, I hope, plenty of audience participation.

Since we are currently homeless due to the closure of the Colosseum for the foreseeable future, we have been able to book The Grand Hall at the Grange, Bushey for all these and also 26th March and 25th June 2022. We are delighted make this venue our temporary base for at least the next year and we are in the process of planning our future concert repertoire following this enforced break from performing. Michael wants to drive the choir forward with exciting, challenging as well as familiar works so that we continue to raise our musical standards to even higher levels and it is vital that our members and you, our audience enjoy the journey too!

I just want to wish you and your families a very Happy Easter and above all, keep safe, healthy and keep singing – it’s not so very long now until we will get back together again!
